Trading YME for a KMS

Well in keeping with tradition of this blog...it seems I am due for a blog post. Gosh I am bad at updating this...maybe this year I will do better. If only I had a good reason...maybe one will come. But anyway I wanted to update you all on my job.  As many of you know I was teaching at Yellow Medicine East High School in Granite Falls, MN this last school year.  The school itself was/is awesome. I absolutely love the students and staff that make up YME.  However, due to budget cuts they had to cut the short man on the pole. That was me and a few other teachers.  Sparing you a super long story, there was a possibility that I could get rehired at YME but at a part-time status which is not at all what I wanted so....

Needless to say spending the summer looking for jobs was not at all in my thought process as I was teaching this last year.  But God has other plans.

I have learned so much about myself while working at YME, for instance what it's like to balance a full-time job with a marriage/family time, still find time to play disc golf and watch sports (hey I will always be a kid at heart.)  I learned from some amazing teachers about some of the best ways to get students motivated about learning, especially in Social Studies.  I have developed some great friendships with teachers as well as some students of Granite Falls.
Then in July, I was lucky enough to land a full-time teaching position with a little school district about 35 minutes north east of Granite called KMS which stands for the little towns in which it draws its students.

K is for Kerkhoven, MN
M is for Murdock, MN
S is for Sunberg, MN

As God would have it I believe it is a blessing that I was given this job it will be a much better situation for myself and Joslyn.  This school district has a history of stability which is  needed in our life right now.  The classes are 60 + strong through kindergarten so I should have a job for as long as God wills it.  I found out this week about the classes in which I will be teaching this year they include:

2 Preps of 9th Grade Civics (a new course for me--here goes something)
1 Prep of 10th Grade American History
1 Prep of 8th Grade Geography
1 Prep of I think 12th Grade World Geography
+
JH Study Hall Yey!!!!!

I am excited about my classes...some familiar some new so I will be a new and exciting year at KMS for me.
